I don’t know why this is happening. I’m usually a pretty happy person. Usually it’s Eric posting shit like this. (no offense E) But I’m not happy. In fact, I’m the opposite of that. I’m ragingly unhappy. Doing so well at the comic con really was a wake up call. School is a waste of my time, but I’ve already spent 2 and 1/2 years there so why spit in Uncle Sam’s face now.

Everyday I want to slam my face into a meat grinder.

Everyday I want to stab myself so many times that I’ll be unrecognizable.

Everyday I want to strangle anything that moves.

All I want to do is draw comics.

My existence is a conflicted pile of meaningless shit.

The PHX Comic Con’ went smooth, sons and daughters. Smooth as hell. “Black velvet tablecloth, Becky and Dave Depuydt’s ‘Secret Bedroom Trunk’ ” smooth.

You get what I’m saying? s m o o t h.

We made more money than I’ve ever seen in one place at one time, my favorite band in the world hired us to churn out a book for them, Rick Remender and I had a dance-off, and a talentless hack motherfucker in an Indianna Jones costume sang “Jesus Loves Me” to himeslf while rocking back and forth and holding himself to drown out our confrontationally blasphemous verbal pitches.

Smooth.

It felt like the beginning of EVENT COMICS, like the opening scene of CHASING AMY, like the genesis of a bona-fide comic book legend.

Why are we so good, America? Why? What fateful accident occured during our respective childhoods that made us so impossibly talented?

Are we mutants, do you think? Wayward X-babies, perhaps?

What Liefeldian God smiled upon us, and why?

“I was also very happy to see local Tucson artists Dave and Eric from Modern Mythology Press. One particularly interesting aspect of their work is a series of podcasts you can access from their site. You might not think podcasts go that well with comic book sales, but it seems to work! They’re always very nice to talk with, and I’m going on the theory that it is because they are basically nice guys, nothing to do with the potential of me buying their stuff or them being almost the same age as my teenaged-daughter who used to work across the street from them”.

This past weekend was the phoenix comic convention. It went better than we could have ever hoped. We screamed and yelled until we lost our voices, we talked to all kinds of big wigs, and we sold mother fucking TONS of books. 

The podcast that should have been up to day has been delayed because Eric and I LITERALLY can not talk louder than a whisper. Don’t worry. Lots of good stuff is coming soon.
